Beatrice and Roosevelt (Bud) Cole were members of Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Neshoba County, Mississippi. They had just finished a church meeting on June 16, 1964 when a group of klansmen surrounded and burned the church, mistakenly believing the church meeting was a civil rights meeting.
