Abstract

The author writes this poem addressed her late friend, Fannie Lou Hamer, from the perspective of Hamer's widower, Perry Hamer. The poem expressed feelings of loss, love, and faith in their future reunion. It also expressed doubt about whether the contemporary results of Hamer's activism were worth the sacrifice and suffering they cost her.
