Abstract

In this supplementary section to a 1962 printing of Race and the Renewal of the Church, author Will D. Campbell discusses the destruction of community life by racial hatred. He referred to the race relations issue as the dominant social problem of the time. Campbell called on the Christian Church to face the situation of racial segregation by "liberating" the segregationists and showing them the healing power of Christian love. He also identified as "irrational" the categorization of race in the first place. He desired that people would use the example of Christ to implement equality in American society.
