Abstract

In this article, the reporter writes about a speech Mayor Allen Thompson gave to ask the citizens of Mississippi to be selective about their television watching and their shopping. His request comes as a response to the withdrawal of the television program Bonanza, which went off the air because the primary actors refused to continue their roles without integrated audiences. Many television personalities shared this viewpoint on integration, and Thompson condemned them all, explaining that they are simply looking for cash by attacking the South.
