Abstract

The author reports that local clergymen in Dayton, Ohio actively supported an African-American family, the Fullers, who had recently moved into the all-white neighborhood of Townview, a suburb of Dayton, Ohio. Clergymen walked seven-year-old Judy Fuller to school after demonstrations by white residents who were unhappy with their newly integrated neighborhood, and planned on maintaining a continual presence at the Fuller home in light of threats to the family. The ministers also made a plea for community acceptance of the family on a local television newscast.
