Abstract

In this piece, Ed King writes about the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) office in Jackson, Mississippi. He discusses the hunger and poverty that the workers at COFO faced; he emphasizes that, in spite of their tribulations, they continued to work assiduously, giving up all of their money for the cause. He mentions the police presence around the office, and the false charges and beatings that the police inflict on COFO workers in Jackson.
