Abstract

In this letter to prominent civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer, author Cec Levinson invites Hamer to stay at her family's home during Hamer's upcoming visit.  Levinson had heard from a worker at the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) that Hamer would be in Berkeley to give a talk.  Levinson expressed her deep affection for Hamer and noted that, after falling in love with Hamer immediately, "Now I'm hooked for life."  In a handwritten postscript to the typed letter, Levinson invites Hamer for a family dinner during her visit as well.
