Abstract 

In this letter, author Edward Lee Cole contacts prominent civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer with a request to write a biography of her life. A student at Jackson State College in Jackson, Mississippi, Lee wanted to complete a political biography about Hamer for a school assignment.  He expressed the wish to document Hamer's immense legacy within the Civil Rights Movement.
