Abstract 

This document is comprised of a series of articles from The Southern Patriot, a publication of the Southern Conference Educational Fund in Louisville, Kentucky.  The various articles included in the document address issues including the dire rural poverty in the Mississippi Delta region, new elections that include African American cadidates in Mississippi, and the lives of Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) leaders including Fannie Lou Hamer.  In addition, some articles contained information about the doings of the white supremacist organization the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), as well as instances of  police brutality toward civil rights activists.
