Abstract

In this report on Freedom Day in Holly Springs, Mississippi, in 1964 contains a complete record of events from the entire day of voter registration efforts, thanks to the short-wave radios used by the civil rights activists. The report is broken up into events by the time of day in which they occurred. The record details heavy police presence and police intimidation of the participants, many of whom were too afraid to register to vote. About 60 African-Americans registered to vote by the end of the day.
