Abstract

The author reports that the National Council of Churches (NCC) announced plans to create a Delta Ministry project that would address the economic and political needs of poor Mississippi families. The ministers who explained this Delta Ministry project noted that violence would possibly arise in response to the initiative. The project's officials anticipated participation from students and ministers, who would be trained by instructors specializing in the fields of law, human relations, and literacy, with a heavy emphasis on voter registration and rights.
