Kenneth E. Christopherson
Dr. Ken Christopherson of Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) served as the academic advisor to Sam Bowers, former Imperial Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) in Mississippi, while Bowers was incarcerated at McNeil Island for conspiracy to violate civil rights in the case of Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman. Bowers received a B.A. in Religion from PLU through their satellite program at the McNeil Island prison. As a white church historian, Dr. Christopherson wrote his doctoral dissertation on the Lutheran Reformation in Norway. The classes he typically taught at PLU-McNeil Island were Ancient Church History, Survey of Church History, and Introduction to World Religions.
