Abstract 

Foy Valentine, former director of the Christian Life Commission and board member of the American Baptist Seminary in Nashville, Tennessee, describes his role and the role of American Baptist Seminary in the Civil Rights Movement. He also discusses one of his students John Lewis, an active leader in the Civil Rights Movement who went on to represent Georgia in the United States Congress.
